THE ZIMMER CHILDREN’S MUSEUM PRESENTS
show&tell: the art of vision
AN INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBIT

David Hockney, Raymond Pettibon, and Tony Bennett to Participate

LOS ANGELES, CA -- The Zimmer Children’s Museum will present the show&tell: the art of vision exhibit, featuring artwork from over 75 artists, humanitarians and social activists from May 8-June 20, 2008 at the Zimmer Museum and the Bell Family Gallery of the Jewish Federation.  Each artist has been provided with cameras, kaleidoscopes, eyeglasses, mirrors or other objects of vision and was asked to turn the item’s blank canvas into a work of art!

Using the metaphor of vision, artist’s interpretations of the term and how the meaning of the word vision plays an active role in our lives will be expressed in their work. All artwork will be sold to raise much needed support for the youTHink arts education initiative in our public schools.

For a complete list of participating artists please visit: www.zimmershowandtell.org/aov_participants.html

Arrangements can be made for the press to view the exhibit and to set up an interview with the CEO of the Museum, Esther Netter.  For more information about the exhibit and its artists, please call the Museum offices at 323-761-8141.

The Zimmer Children’s Museum is dedicated to teaching people about the BIG IDEAS of global citizenship, community responsibility, and cultural sensitivity. The Zimmer’s mission is to promote values that help make a better society through interactive learning, creative self-expression and art experiences for children and families. The Museum features hands-on exhibits for toddlers to 8 year olds and offers both Museum-based and community-based programs.  In school and community settings, the youTHink initiative utilizes the power of art making to foster students’ critical thinking about contemporary issues and empowers them to find and use their voices to take action for positive social change.
